All of the class descriptions below are just a starting point for your training experience. We will tailor the class to meet your needs and training goals in concert with our positive training philosophy.

Teenage Dog Classes

Manners 1A~ Teen
Dog Age: 6 months to 1 year
For teenage dogs and dogs that have had no previous education. Teaching basic manners and helping you build a lasting positive relationship with your dog.
Manners topics to be covered: meeting people, playing with people and other dogs, walking nicely on a leash, and enrichment.
Cues: Sit, Down, With Me, Quiet, Relax, Come, Lave It, Wait, Give, Drop it

 

Length: 7 Sessions

5 classes will be at your home (Weeks 1,2,3,6,7)
2 classes will be out in public (Weeks 4, 5)
 

Printed Materials Included:

• Directions for each behavior

• Daily Training instructions

 

Phone and e-mail support includes:

• Unlimited phone support for the life of your dog

• Unlimited e-mail support for the life of your dog

Cost: $350 for Primary service area         

          $385 for Secondary service area

Manners 1B~Teen

Manners 1A for Newly Adopted Dogs

Volunteer Dog Training recognizes that adopting a rescue dog is a unique experience with its’ own set of joys and challenges. We want to help adopters through those moments with positive, science based training methods.

We have created a private, in home, basic manners course that takes into account the Rule of 3: 3 days to relax, 3 weeks to learn the routine, 3 months to feel at home. We address these stages via first focusing on the relationship between he dog and its new family, followed by learning basic cues, and capped off with learning how to feel comfortable out in the world. Because the class is 1 on 1 we have the ability to address each dog’s specific needs, thus creating a truly custom experience for the dog and adopter.

Items to be covered:

• Human / Dog communication including body language

• Socialization of dogs to adults, kids and other dogs

• Basic cues: sit, down, wait, relax, come, leave it, drop it and give

• Walking: on loose leash and off leash

• Basic tricks

• Health and nutrition

• Dealing with unwanted behaviors

Manners 2
Current Vol Dogs and New Vol Dogs

Dog Age: 1 year+
For your dog that has completed Manners 1 A or B. Combining the social skills learned previously with advanced skills including: Heel, Stay, Stand, and Go Relax so that your dog can be a pleasure to be with both at home and out in public.

Prerequisite: Manners A/B or previous basic manners class from another source
Length: 7 Sessions

3 or 4 classes will be in your home (Weeks 1, 2, 3 and if needed 4)
3 or 4 classes will be out in public (Weeks 4, 5, 6, 7)

If you are interested in having your dog take a standardized obedience test, like the Canine Good Citizen Test™, this class can be adapted to prepare you and your dog.
